A Bandage for the Pain

“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

Psalm 30:5
✦ ✦ ✦

Sometimes the pain of the past feels too heavy for me to carry. Past mistakes, broken relationships, and regrets have caused wounds that seem to follow me wherever I go.

Daily I have moments where I ask myself, will I ever be free from this pain?

It is in those moments that I remember that I have Jesus, he is the answer for my pain. His love places a bandage over my heart. He does not pretend that the wounds are not there, instead he acknowledges my pain and sits with me in it whilst reminding me that he is the only one who can bring healing to my heart.

Healing does not come overnight; it is a journey of learning to trust him with every broken piece. When I let go, he replaces my pain with his peace, my fear with his hope and my shame with his grace.

I am still carrying scars and I am still healing. The scars no longer define me and I know that God is faithful, every scar I carry tells a story of a Saviour who heals. My story is not over yet and neither is yours. The pain is only temporary compared to the joy that is coming.

Journaling for the week

Is there a wound from your past that you need to place in the hands of Jesus?

How can you invite him in so that he can place His “healing bandage” over that area of your heart?

A guided prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for being the bandage for my pain. I give it all to You. Please replace it with the peace that only you can provide. When I forget please remind me that I do not have to carry this anymore on my own. Thank You for healing my heart with your love and grace. In Your precious name, Amen.

A letter read together is different from a letter read alone. This is the quiet table where the letter keeps going.

Where did this find you?

If a line of this letter met you somewhere real, tell Alice. A single sentence is enough — she reads every reply herself.
