Create in Me a New Heart, O Lord

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Psalm 51:10
✦ ✦ ✦

It has come to my attention of late that sometimes I get frustrated with my walk with God. I feel like I need to change every broken, sinful part of myself on my own. However, it isn't up to me — only God truly has the power to change my heart. When I finally surrender to him, he is able to transform me from the inside out and heal the places that carry anger or bitterness. I can't do this on my own. So I finally surrender, I invite God into my heart, and a miraculous work of renewal can begin.

Journaling for the week

What are the areas of your heart that you have been trying to change instead of surrendering them to God? What might it look like to let God do the work of healing that needs to be done?

A guided prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before you and ask that you would create in me a new heart and renew my spirit. Please heal the broken pieces of my soul, so that I may walk in the fullness of who you have called me to be. Help me to always walk in faith, love and obedience. Amen.
